The Grand Hacienda: Carolyn & Tom discuss the green and eco Hacienda, the area, upcoming events and food with show hosts
The Grand Hacienda experience is one you will carry with you for a lifetime. Set in the majestic land of Georgia O'Keeffe overlooking Abiquiú Lake the authentic hacienda is an experience in and of itself. Whether you want private, intimate time by yourselves or a joyful time with others, you'll have it here. It’s up to you whether you join in conversations around the fireplace, talk with incredible like-minded people, or roast s’mores on your private portal while quietly enjoying the evening. At The Grand Hacienda, you will find yourself in a magical, beautiful and inspiring Abiquiú Lake location, where you can do as much, or as little, as you want.

The Grand Hacienda experience is for adults (17+) wanting to escape, recharge and explore.

Thick adobe walls, reclaimed wood, vigas, and lintels make the building architecturally significant. As typical for a Spanish hacienda, each guest suite opens into the courtyard plaza. The Hacienda incorporates the latest technologies and green features for those wanting an eco travel experience. Although The Grand Hacienda itself is stunning, the views are simply unbelievable.
We believe that sharing a meal is an important part of life, and food is a powerful energy to nourish our bodies. We think of our three-course breakfast as a visual feast with inspiring ambience around the table. We grow our own herbs and vegetables on site and try to source as much as we can from local farmers and ranchers. Our eggs are fresh from a small farm in the village, and often we pick them up the same morning that we serve them to you! Even with our sweet dishes, we use ingredients that add a nutritional value.
Freshly made each day, afternoon treats are served in the Great Room. When scheduled, we invite you to take part in a happy hour. It's the perfect time to meet guests, sample wine and chat with hosts, Carolyn and Tom.

If a happy hour is not on the schedule, we invite you to enjoy many of the outdoor areas, including a bar with saddle stools.
Reserve an Afternoon Tea: Art of Tea Experience, sip beautiful teas, eat sweet and savory treats, and converse while you enjoy the majestic view.
The Great Room is a wonderful place to relax –– complete with a fireplace, card table, games and puzzles galore, a connoisseur's collection of books, and spectacular and panoramic views. Our library includes titles on Georgia O'Keeffe, Ghost Ranch, New Mexico, art, wellness, spirituality, and of course, novels, including local authors Lesley Poling-Kempes and Douglas Preston. We intentionally purchase books that share the history and culture of the area combined with those to curl up in a chair with to read and breathe.
We love to help our guests pick the right activities for their trip. Whether you are an adrenaline lover, an explorer, an artist or just want to relax, Abiquiú will not disappoint! Our expert concierge can help you plan your best stay. Many of our guests arrive with long lists of things to see, and after a few days, they decide to just relax at The Hacienda and recharge. We love welcoming our guests back after a day of hiking or exploring, with the red dirt of Abiquiú sticking to their boots – and we also love seeing our guests unwind, unplug and soak in the surroundings.

After a day of sightseeing, fun outdoor activities or simply relaxing around The Hacienda, your evenings bring awe-inspiring views, peaceful stillness and opportunities to connect.

One of our favorite ways to spend the evening is in the hot tub. The stars are magnificent here. With no city and traffic lights to interfere, they are a stunning spectacle.

From sunset to tracking Saturn's rings in the telescope, the night skies are not to be missed.
While The Hacienda is a work of art, the land it sits on is magical. This land, watched over by previous generations of Tewa and Navajo Puebloans, is now the home to a green and eco-friendly home with new stewards. Located in the remote Abiquiú Lake community, the Hacienda is set among the stunning natural geography of Abiquiú. O'Keeffe's Abiquiú. And Tewa's history. Remote and private. Quiet and still. Beautiful. We are grateful.
