Hello from our little corner of northern New Mexico! It’s December, and while the chill in the air is settling in, it’s only making everything cozier and more relaxing here in Abiquiu at The Grand Hacienda. Christopher and I are celebrating our third month in this beautiful place, and honestly, time has flown by. We’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful guests who make every day brighter and more interesting!
This time of year also gives us the chance to get creative in the kitchen. We’ve been working on some new recipes that we’re excited about—we have a duck breast option now! Our goal is to create delicious, healthy dishes that capture the essence of each season. We put a lot of love into our food and try to avoid anything processed. And, we're already planning even more culinary adventures as the winter unfolds here in beautiful Abiquiu!
On top of all that, we’ve been hard at work on our greenhouse! It’s definitely been a bit of a challenge, but we’re not giving up. We can’t wait for spring to roll around when we’ll be able to grow the freshest, healthiest ingredients right here on our property. We’re planning out how and where to plant all the beautiful veggies, herbs, and greens that will soon make their way into our dishes—farm-to-table at its finest!
In other exciting news, our Inn has been named Select Registry’s Best Craft Lodging Property in the West! We are incredibly honored to receive this recognition for the hard work and dedication our team has put into every aspect of The Grand Hacienda. From the meticulous craftsmanship in the design to the thoughtful, personalized touches that Tom and Carolyn have added to create such an intimate and welcoming atmosphere, we’re truly grateful to be part of this amazing community and grateful that we can share this space in Abiquiu.
During this quieter season, we’re also finding time to explore more of the area. The beauty of winter here is undeniable, and we’re excited to discover new spots to share with our guests in the upcoming months.
Thanks for being part of our journey. Here’s to a cozy, joyful winter ahead, full of good food, great company, and plenty of new adventures!
With warmth and gratitude this Holiday Season,
Jessica and Christopher
